- What's been going with the updates???? I must admit
I've not really been doing many updates at all have I?
I've just been a little busy of late, and not really had
time for much modelling. I've been getting into trucks a
little, even gone to the trouble of joining a forum! I
must be serious.
I've been working on my Scania that I've blogged about
below, thats coming along quite well indeed.
I've also been toying with the idea of moving out, and
getting a place of my own, as I'm 24 and time is getting
on very quickly. As for the Garden Railway..... thats
not going to be coming with me..lol Moving out is not
set in stone yet, but I'm certainly thinking about it.
What Happened to the summer again this year? If your
like me and you blinked? You missed it to...
Well thats an update, but not exactly worth
reading...... but hey I've made an effort huh :o)

Tamiya Scania R470 Highline :.
Well, Over the past 5-6 months or so
I've sort of had a break from railways, and modelling
railways in general. Its sometimes good to have a break
then get back into it along the way with a fresh new way
of thinking... make sence? Anyway, I've been getting
into the RC hobby for a little bit. I've been into RC
trucks and Cars for a while now, and own a few different
varients, including a Pirate 10 Monster Truck with a 21
nitro engine, plus a Carson Mercades Race Truck, with a
15 Engine.
The 1/14 scale trucks from Tamiya are quite a rare
breed in this country to the best of my knowledge? In
comparison to other countries. The Scania R470 as it is
know (below) is the kit I went for. Very tidy kit,
everything goes where its supposed to without any
hassel.
The above picture is how far I have got with it.
Next on the list of things to do, involves buying the
Radio Gear (4 Channel) and the Multi Function Control
Unit, this will control the lighting, blinkers, head
lamps, brake lights etc. Sound will also be added to the
truck once all the radio gear is set up and working
fine.
Not forgetting the Trailler. A flat bed trailler
will be built for the rig. More about that when it
arrives. The Rear lighting is not painted yet, so comes
acrossed a little wrong in the picture.

Stored Memories :.
A few good memories that I just so happen to have
on Film.. Put together in one little video clip. I hope
you enjoy your little insight into the world of me,
showing all the things I love the most..
.:Work:.
Oh dear! Sort of mixing work with pleasure here,
should I go on... I think I will. Been working for B&Q
now for about 5-6 years, some people might say its not
the best job to have, but I'm happy at the moment. A
good team, good bunch of people, all up for a laugh
while getting ya job done, great combination if you ask
me.
Retail is a funny business really, it takes patients to
work in retail, it's not for everyone, I've seen a few
start then leave a few days later. One of the problems
with stores / shops and alot of other jobs I'm sure is
the 'he says she says' rubbish. I'm sorry I'm not trying
to be sexist here, but its normally the female sex thats
culprit, Oh yes we all have a gossip, but its more so
daily chats with chicks. You tend to know when they're
having a good old gossip, as on passing the tone is
lowered to slight whispering. My first job was in a high
street store, and I was the only male in the store..lol
Can you imagine! It sounds great ;) but believe me, its
far from it!
I'm coming acrossed very sexist but I'm not at all!
Then you also get 'The Customer' - you and me! Once
you've worked in retail you tend to shop differently,
you tend to put the pack of screws back in the right
place, you take your trolley back to the trolley bay. If
you don't, well you've obviously missed the point.
Theres so many different customers, Heres just a few.
The lurker!
The lurker will be walking down the aisle your working
in, he/she really needs to ask you a question, but
doesn't ask you, no sign that he/she wants your
attention, except a silent stood up straight stare. No "excuse
me - can you help me" Just stood there waiting for
you to ask.. Not a problem, I'm really busy, is he/she
waiting for me? or looking on the shelf beside me.? Talk
damn it!
The Shoe Shuffler!
This one really annoys me, the customer usually wearing
a sweater, slightly obese, stubble. Avoids the "excuse
me" and goes straight for the shoe shuffle. They
walk fine towards you, until they get about 3.5 Meters
away from you, the feet drag. You then get the idea they
want your attention.
Mr. & Mrs. Rude!
In my retail career, I've seen some rude customers. I'm
a person! Mr. Rude obviously knows as a Customer Advisor
I need to advise and assist, and I get paid for this.
But what part of that means I can be spoken to in a bad
manner?
You get the. "Oi mate" or not even that, you
also get the "Where do I find" while I'm
talking to another customer without excuse me. Or the
worst of all, and this got me - "Come here"
*with the come here index finger* My whole mannerism
changed, I was very cold to her!
Naturally my response's to her where just yes/no
answers then good bye! end of.
The Regular
The regular.. the customer thats in every other day
buying bits your sure he's already got.. Its a DIY
store, he's either a keen DIYer or has a very unhealthy
house thats either falling apart, or he's attempted to
make it better a failed miserably ;) thats a bit harsh,
but hey, heres the damned bit. Your going home, in your
own clothes not B&Q uniform, no apron in sight..... "Excuse
me Darren, do you know................" Argh! I've
been here 8 hours I just wanna go home. Or even worse,
your going to Lunch, and he gets you! And keeps you for
30 mins asking you the questions that he surly could
answer himself.
The Chatter
Hey, I'm all good for a nice chat once in a while with
the customers, this customer tells you his life story,
where he's been and how many cars he's owned. He knows
your name, and immediately believes he owns you, and can
ask for you every time he comes to the store.. Your
growing list of things to do gets bigger, but the
management team don't fit chatting into your schedule.
The above makes me sound like a Bah Humbug sorta
guy..lol Maybe I've just been in the public sector to
long? Luck has it, I'm not dealing with the public on
the shop floor now, 2 weeks ago my job role changed. I
now manage the store warehouse along side Enid, who
deals with the admin part of the warehouse.
Got chatting to an Eddie Stobart driver after lifting
his load, and rumor has it, Stobart are looking to get
more class 66's. As W.A has required land around
railways. Not to mention at an airport so I'm told..
Stobart by Road, Rail and Air!
.:Seeing
the countryside the right way!:.
Another hobby of mine has to be my mountain
bike, it is 'the' way to get around, no tax, m.o.t's,
insurance needed, and to top it all it keeps you fit.
Sustrans
UK's leading sustainable transport
charity, has many cycle routes around the UK taking you
through some of the most scenic parts of Britain.
Various routes also take ex railway lines that we're
closed during the beeching period. Whats great is that
memorabilia still remains, like mileposts, signal posts,
bridges, tunnels. Well worth a visit.
Me and my family all went along route
21 on the sustrans map, various pictures above shows our
time along the route. On the Heathfield to Polegate
route be aware theres a very slight incline most of the
way. Going down towards Polegate is a blast, very easy.
Coming back however is a challenge.... as we found out.
Today we did the other part of route 21, from
Groombridge to East Grinstead via Forest Row. Very
different from the previous route, no gradual hills, its
either a hill or level straight?
Barney Tablehurst! at first we thought he was
lost!
While we was having our lunch at Forest Row, Barney
came up to us for a bite to eat..... a dog walker past
us and naturally we thought Barney belonged to her? She
kept on walking... We got slightly worried, and had it
in our minds Barney was with us for the duration. After
about 40 mins pondering at what we should do with
Barney, it turned out he lived 20 yards from the
trackbed..lol He had us going, and got plenty of snacks
out of it... Clever Boy..lol
.:DJ
Butterface on Stickam:.
In the past I've always been very on
topic, heres a change for ya!.
Theres various sites out there for entertainment of all
kinds, One very entertaining subject of mine is music.
I'm sure a lot of visitors reading this would not
approve of my taste in music, however its what I like.
Recently I've seen Internet users broadcasting their
musical talent over the Internet more and more often.
You Tube, and various chat sites like Stickam, and
MyVideoChat. A site I'm quite fond of at present is
Stickam. Its not everyday you can just go in and start
chatting to random people from all over the world.
A member from Stickam djbutterface has a set up and
DJ's on cam, you go in, stream his cam and music... He's
there with his gizmo's i.e Decks and Techs broadcasting
tunes to the world. Fab idea. Dance/Electronica/Drum &
Bass. Thats one of the great things about the Internet..
5 maybe 10 years ago - who could practically have their
own radio station and the hub be their living room? Not
very many. Broadband has opened up so many
possibilities.
So heres my little plug... If your into Drum &
Bass, Dance or such like.. Take a peek he might be
online now:
